Installing Window Film in cold weather

Installing window film indoors during the winter can sometimes be an issue. If you notice condensation or ice on any of the edges of the glass, you should wait until the end of the season before you install. Window film can take up to 30 days to properly cure. Until the film has had a chance to properly bond with the glass, any moisture or freezing temperatures can cause premature failure of the film – including peeling, tunneling or bubbling.

Window film should never be installed outdoors when the night-time temperature is expected to fall below 40 degrees at any point within (1) week of application. The water used to apply the window film can take a few weeks to dry out. If the water between the glass and the film freezes before the water evaporates, it will cause premature failure of the film.
